What We Do
Somali Media develops community-based programming for the Somali community and manages the production of this programming. Our shows are aired on Fridays and Saturdays on the Minneapolis Telecommunications Network (MTN), Fridays on the St PaulĀ  Neighborhood Network (SPNN), Saturday on Metro Cable Network (MCT) and Sundays on Twin City Public Television (TPT). Our programming is community-driven. We look issues that directly impact Somali communities in Minnesota, including jobs at education, human service, welfare programs, immigration, and ESL training. We also cover community meetings and public hearings that affect the Minnesotan Somali community.

Somali Media is a vital link between Somali people and their new Minnesota community.  Our viewers rely on our programming to stay informed on community issues that are not covered on other cable programs and news shows.   We also provide a space for Somali community leaders to speak to policy makers and the greater Minnesotan community about the concerns of Somali people.  Furthermore, Somali Media broadcasts cultural events helping members of our own community feel connected and allowing other Minnesotans to learn about Somali culture.
